December 28th, 2015 (FB Post Date): Goldfinger

Our favorite so far! Here’s what we thought…

Gadgets: Aston Martin. We saw Q’s lab. Sweet.
Bad Guy: We both loved that he was in your face from the beginning of the movie. He really didn’t want to just kill off Bond. Odd Job is so great.
Martinis: First we had a 1/3 vermouth to 2/3 vodka mix (lemon peel and olives in all of ours today). My favorite today, M thought it was a bit too much vermouth. Next we tried 2.5 vodka, .5 olive brine, .5 vermouth. We both agreed it was relatively unbalanced and horrible.
Bond Girl: Pussy Galore. M: First feminine villain with actual power, an actual feminist (with a deadly flying lady squadron). Ongoing dumb theme of women being magically “turned” by Bond’s persuasive organ.
Fav Scene: Tense bomb diffusal for me. M liked Goldfinger’s demise followed by gold assassination and golf.
Sets: Another cool villain’s set. Goldfinger’s lodge appears rustic at first, then has unneeded technical components. The car chase was also dope. Spy Hunter!
