  • Demon Castle Dracula!

    Demon Castle Dracula!

As Halloween approaches Michelle and I have decided to follow the Belmont clan in their eternal struggle against Dracula and his evil minions by playing through some of the many Castlevania games. These games eventually morph into one of my favorite genres, Metroidvania games, but we are going to start at the beginning with 1987’s…

A Lot Of Silent Hill 2 And A Few More Movies

Slow dread, unnerving suspense, paranoia, unexpected startles, and gory demises made up a large part of our October. During the last week of the month we spent many hours beating the video game Silent Hill 2 (Remake) and saw a handful of horror films that were surprisingly high quality. If you want to emulate our…

  • Horror Filled October

    Horror Filled October

Andrew allowed me to start my scary movie viewing a few days early. Since we both got minor colds during the last days of September, we had even more time to settle into our excessively dark cinema room with cozy blankets and get sketched out. I decided to publish our list a week early in…

  • Perlers (Melty Beads)

    Perlers (Melty Beads)

For many years now my main artistic hobby has been making art out of Perler brand melty beads. I generally use or tweak existing designs and have given away many pieces as thank you’s for Extra Life donations. Since we’ve got quite a few pieces up around our Urgezes home I thought I’d show them…

Cooking Up A Storm And Hanging With ACNH Homies

Attending 2 months of physical therapy was a blessing in disguise. It allowed us to plan ahead for when Andrew would have to manage caretaking for me, wrangling all 4 pets, and household management during February when I would be hobbling around on crutches. The first thing we did was stock our freezer to the…

  • Timespinner

    Timespinner

Sometimes I have a bad habit of starting games and then getting distracted and setting them aside halfway through or just before the finale. This year I hope to clear out some of that backlog of unfinished video games. As I complete them I’ll write up a quick review for those of you who might…

  • Suika Game

    Suika Game

Once or twice a year Michelle and I sink our teeth into a video game that we play individually but simultaneously. We almost always have a game we are playing cooperatively, but Suika Game is a separate type of play where we each do our own thing. The two experiences lead to very different conversations…

  • Wrapping Up 2023

    Wrapping Up 2023

October: We headed back for Year 2 of Portuguese language class. With any luck, at the end of the course we will have a B2 (upper-intermediate) language level, and hopefully a bit more ease with conversational Portuguese. Our favorite neighborhood kid Bianca needed help with a school project and it was Halloween themed, so definitely…

    Finazzo Fun On Twitch

Michelle and I are going to try streaming some video games on Twitch. We’d love to have you stop in and say “hi” in the chat. In addition to talking about the game we are playing we will gladly answer any questions about our adventures in Portugal. This will be very casual, and just for…

  • We Made It 1 Year

    We Made It 1 Year

June 20th marked 1 full year in Portugal and the time blasted by like a bullet train. Maybe that means we have been having plenty of fun (“day drinking” European style is next level – even our background in emergency services did not prepare us for this), or perhaps we are just oldish now and…
